If you are fed up with your living room looking a bit tired out, then there are lots of things that you can do to breathe some new life into the room and make it a place where you are happy to spend time. Here are some of the things that you can do to give your living room a whole new look and a new lease of life…

Start with a Deep Clean – Spending some time cleaning the room fully will make a big difference. Really get into every nook and cranny, so move all the furniture out and clean the floor, dust and polish everywhere and have a thorough sort out and declutter. Anything that you don’t use or is just taking up space can be removed, and you will find that this can really give your space a refresh!

Change the Layout – The layout of the room may be making it look cluttered or disorganised – experimenting with how your living room is arranged can help you to identify this and find other layouts that work for you. Move some of the furniture around for example to see how it works in the space, add a rug or plants to create more interest and make it feel more homely.

Update Furniture – If your furniture is old and tatty then this could be making the room look tatty too! Investing in good quality furniture means that you can give your room a new look and this doesn’t have to mean going ultra modern – if you like the style of yesteryear, have a look for a vintage sofa or dresser for example.

Change the Colour Scheme – If you have a colour scheme that is stuck in the past, then you might want to consider more modern colour palettes to help refresh the room. Think about colours that you like and have a look through interior magazines and online for inspiration that you can use to guide you.

Making a mood board can also help you to get a good idea of the colours that you want to use and help you to choose paints and wallpaper as well as fabrics for the room that all complement one another well.
