Ovenable Trays are suitable for a wide variety of foods but there are certain foods that are better cooked in a tray than others. Knowing which foods are best cooked in Ovenable Trays will save you time and ensure the food turns out right.
Roasted Vegetables
Dense root vegetables, such as carrots, parsnips and peppers, can be spread out in a shallow tray, and will get a good even colour on the base of the vegetable. As they shrink down in the oven the rigid sides of the tray will stop them from getting jumbled up together.
Meat Portions
Use ovenable trays to cook individual portions of chicken, lamb or fish such as chicken thighs, lamb chops or fish fillets. Always ensure that cooked foods have reached a safe internal temperature to ensure they have been cooked properly.
Lasagne and Pasta Bakes
Lasagna is a fantastic dish to cook in a tray, as a deep tray will hold all the layers and the cook will retain all the moisture. In addition, a portion-sized tray is ideal for individual servings and the food can be served straight from the tray to the plate.
Pies and Pastry Dishes
The firm base of the tray supports the pastry and it does not sag, whilst the sides of the tray prevent the filling from spilling over as it bubbles.
Fish and Seafood
Individual fish fillets (including delicate ones) also benefit from the tray’s flat surface.

Gratins and Baked Rice
A shallow tray is ideal for spreading out a layer of food to get a crunchy top, a deep pot just doesn’t achieve the same results.
The matching of foods to the most suitable trays will make cooking easier and produce better results.
