For many of us, the cold and rainy climate of the UK can take a toll on our health, both mentally and physically. It is harder to find the motivation to get out and exercise during the dreary winter months and the reduced sunlight can have a detrimental impact on some people’s mood.

For many people who feel like this, the solution is to move to somewhere warmer, where the sun shines more and the winters aren’t as miserable. Kefalonia is one of the most desirable Greek islands for a relaxed pace of life, beautiful scenery, and plenty of sunshine, so it is a place that is well worth considering if you are fed up with the cold and grey of the UK.

Buying a property in Kefalonia and becoming a resident is something that has become less straightforward since Brexit, but that is certainly not something that should put you off. If you move to Greece using a golden visa scheme for example, this is a great way of getting your own place in the sun and not having to worry about the restrictions of Brexit.

Before you go, it is a good idea to spend some time on the island, and travel around it to different areas. This will not only give you a good idea of what life is like on the island but also help you to find the areas that you can see yourself living in and have a look at the properties there.
